Before being too optimistic about being able to manufacture new hearts/etc, please read up on some of the stuff Karen Sandler is doing on medical devices. She’s a lawyer who has an implanted medical device who has been actively working on the accountability/transparency/reliability of such devices and the software that governs them.
While it is bad enough the control of multimedia technology is being stolen from computer owners under the false theory this helps the content industries, the risk to life from this thinking becomes extreme when discussing medical devices.
BTW: WIND has better data for those of us living in the service areas. Since phone/cable companies are in a conflict of interest when providing Internet, I’ve boycott these companies (No Cable/Satellite, home phone/Internet from TekSavvy, etc).
